Where have you been? and what have you been doing? - - - family, school, career, pastimes, good times, etc.

I have lived in Bexley since 1987. I retired from Capital University after 17 years as an admin assistant in the Conservatory of Music. My husband, Bob, retired from the Columbus Police Dept after 30 years. We have 5 children, 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. After our retirements we have traveled around the country visiting national parks and seeing our country up close. We’ve also been visiting major league ballparks while we travel. We have seen games at 16 of the 30 ballparks. Unfortunately Covid 19 put an end to our travels. We are now planning a trip to New England for 2022. We’ll also be able to see more ballparks on the way.

favorite high school memory

One of my favorite memories was listening to Doc Severinson rehearsing during my study hall in the auditorium. He was playing George Gershwin’s “Summertime” from “Porgy and Bess”. It was one of the most beautiful renditions I’ve ever heard. I still remember thinking how beautiful it was.

unique achievement

I know it's cliché, but being married for 47 years is an achievement. I know there are quite a few who have done it, too. But it is still an achievement for all of us.

standout event

Holding my great granddaughter.
I was there when her mother ( my granddaughter) was born, I even cut the cord during her birth.

unforgettable trip

We have seen a lot of beautiful places since our retirement, but the Grand Canyon was awe inspiring.

little-known fact

My mother and I did not know the legal spelling of my name until I applied for a job at Ohio Bell after graduation. We both thought it was one word, Maryellen. My had father filled out the papers for the birth certificate, and he put down Mary Ellen. So, when I was 18, I had to learn a new signature

You’ve come a long way in 55 years. Where are you going in the next five years?

Hopefully, we will be able to continue traveling and seeing our beautiful country.
